In recent years, substantial progress has been made in using fine-needle aspiration (FNA) technique to collect samples from clinically diagnosed Buruli ulcer cases with non-ulcerative lesions. FNA and swabbing (for ulcerative lesions) are simple procedures that can be carried out by trained health workers.
